Thus, it is imperative to secure a stable supply of water as the foundation of  life, protect and preserve the natural environment, strengthen structures and social systems to deal with disasters, and create safe and comfortable living spaces.

Our mission is to educate students so they can visualize and create a safe and affluent social system while maintaining this earth-friendly perspective. This endeavor is pursued under our innovative education system that incorporates policy engineering (i.e. environmental economics and risk management) into civil engineering and environmental planning.
